Online, Cyber Monday follows on 30 November. Around the same time, furniture demand rises ahead of the December holidays, when families host relatives and many people travel upcountry. That means popular items and delivery slots can get busy late in the year, so planning early helps.

- Decide what you need most. A list stops a "deal" on something you do not need from using up the budget for something you do.

How to spot a real discount
- Check the "was" price. A crossed-out price only means something if the piece actually sold at that price. Compare it with what you saw a few weeks earlier.

Busy sale periods attract fake sellers who copy photos, post very low prices and ask buyers to pay quickly. Protect yourself:
- Be careful about paying in advance to a seller you cannot verify, especially paying before you see the piece.
- Check that the seller has a real showroom, a Google Business Profile with genuine reviews, and the same phone number everywhere.
- Pay to an account or till in the business name, never to a personal number that keeps changing.
- Get the product, price, colour, size and delivery cost in writing before you pay, and keep every receipt.
