Short answer: Our car parking shades start from KSh 10,000 for the multi-panel, leaf-style single-pole and fan-frame cantilever designs, with the listings noting that the price varies with size and specifications. Canopy, carport and steel-frame shades are priced on request, so send us your space and number of cars on WhatsApp for a quote.

A car shade keeps your vehicle out of the sun and rain where you park every day, whether that is a home driveway, an office car park or a shared estate parking area. This guide explains the shade types in our car parking shades range, what each one costs, and what to measure before you ask for a quote.

The car shade types we stock

Our range covers seven designs. They differ mainly in how the canopy is held up: by several poles, by one pole, by a frame on one side, or by a full frame around the car.

Multi-panel commercial shade

The Multi-Panel Commercial Car Shade (KSh 10,000) uses tall vertical poles with a canopy spanning several widths, which suits a row of cars at an office, school, church or estate. The listing describes steel poles and an orange canopy fabric.

Leaf-style single-pole shade

The Leaf-Style Single-Pole Car Shade (KSh 10,000) holds a curved, leaf-shaped black canopy on one slanted pole. With only one pole, it leaves more room around the car doors.

Fan-frame cantilever shade

The Fan-Frame Cantilever Car Shade (KSh 10,000) angles a black canopy over the car from a multi-slat frame on one side. Cantilever means the support sits to the side instead of in the middle, so you can drive straight in.

Cantilever umbrella shade

The Cantilever Umbrella Car Shade works like a large garden umbrella: one slanted pole with a wide orange canopy folded into an umbrella shape. Ask us for a quote on this one.

Canopy, carport and steel-frame shades

The Canopy Car Parking Shade, Car Parking Shade, Grey Fabric Carport Canopy and Steel-Frame Outdoor Shade Canopy are framed structures that cover the car more fully. The listings describe a steel or metal frame, and the carport canopy uses grey shade cloth. Prices for these depend on the size you need, so ask us for a quote.

Canopy Car Parking Shade Ask for a quote A covered parking bay at home

The three shades listed from KSh 10,000 note that the final price varies with size and specifications. Tell us how many cars you want to cover and we will confirm the price before you pay.

If you want shade over a patio or outdoor table rather than a car, a garden umbrella is the better fit. The Green Cantilever Garden Umbrella (KSh 115,000) sits in the car shades collection too, and our full garden parasols range covers more colours.

What to measure before you order

A few measurements help us quote the right size the first time. As a rough guide, check:

  • Number of cars. One car, two side by side, or a full row. This decides between a single-pole or cantilever shade and a multi-panel one.
  • Length and width of the space. Measure the parking area itself, plus some space around it so doors open freely.
  • Height. Note the height of the tallest vehicle that will park there, such as a van or a pickup with a roof rack.
  • Access. Where cars drive in and turn. A cantilever design keeps poles out of the driving line.
  • The ground. Whether the area is concrete, paving, murram or soil, and whether anything runs underground there.
  • Photos. Two or three photos of the space from different sides make quoting much easier.

Home driveway, office or estate?

At home, most people shade one or two cars. A single-pole shade or a fan-frame cantilever shade covers one car neatly, while a carport-style canopy covers the bay more fully.

Offices, schools, churches and estates usually need to shade a row of cars at once. That is what the multi-panel commercial shade is designed for, with the canopy spanning several widths on tall poles.

If you manage a compound with both parking and a seating area, you can combine a car shade with a garden umbrella over the outdoor seating. See our guide to garden parasols for those options.

Looking after a car shade

A little routine care keeps a shade looking tidy. As general advice:

  • Brush off leaves, dust and bird droppings regularly so they do not stain the canopy.
  • Rinse the canopy with clean water and let it dry fully before folding or covering anything.
  • Check bolts and fixings now and then, especially after strong wind or heavy rain.
  • Close an umbrella-style shade in strong wind if it is designed to fold.
